The woods on the Cerbaie high ground are a “world apart” an area that was inhabited and worked on up until a few decades ago and since then has been largely abandoned. Paths that start and then disappear in the depths of the maquis, never-ending forests that providing natural habitat, landscapes and horizons that make you forget the factories and warehouses a few hundred metres below.
Thanks to an improvement plan to enhance the area, more than 7 kilometres of paths have been cleared and put back into shape, and adding, along the trails, information panels and exercise breaks with the aim to start making the most of an area so beautiful and so unexploited.
Tuscany and the hills of the Cerbaie offer the ideal scenario for bicycle lovers of any kind, from the amateur to the professional or to who wants to simply pedal without haste to enjoy the beauty spots of the region. You can choose from a wide range of itineraries: by road, for fans of racing bikes or by mountain bike for who prefers to get away from traffic and get back to nature.
The countryside in Tuscany is for the most part hilly, with olive groves, vineyards and little medieval towns, while the lowlands are concentrated near the coast and along the course of the rivers.
